GAYE COLVIN WINS THE 2008 SARA AULL AWARD

The Sara Aull Award recognizes the best student paper of publishable quality relating to special libraries. Papers are judged on
originality, professional significance, clarity of expression, and relevance to the field of special librarianship. The winner receives a $1000 cash prize and publication on the NCSLA website.

At our December 4th banquet Jill Robinson, NCSLA Student Relations Chair, presented this award to Gaye Colvin, a UNC-G student living and working in Asheville. She is the ORPCE Logistics Coordinator & FM Grants/Research Coordinator at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville. Her paper reports on a user survey and needs assessment in a digital health care library.

The evening was highlighted by the Keynote Speaker Davenport (Dav) Robertson who provided his speech on "InfoPrognostication": 100 Years Past, 100 Years Future." Dav took the audiuence back in time with a glimpse of 1909 perceptions and a nod to the future with humorous photos, graphics, and audio clips. He demostrated the evolution of information professionals and set the stage for SLA's Centennial Commission plan for celebrating this milestone throughout the coming year.

ANCHASL Fall 2008 Meeting - Nov 7 in Winston Salem NC

The Association of North Carolina Health and Science Libraries (ANCHASL) will hold its Fall 2008 meeting on November 7 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Forsyth Medical Center Conference Center in Winston-Salem, NC. The Medical Library Association course (6 contact hours) "Teaching Clinical Skills to Medical Librarians" will be offered.
