The Fall 2009 meeting of the Association of North Carolina Health and Science Libraries will take place November 13th at the Schindler Learning Center at the N.C. Zoo in Asheboro. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Mike Loomis, Chief Veterinarian of the zoo. A course will also be presented, "The Animal-Human Health Connection" (4.0 MLA contact hours).

NCSLA and UNCG presents: SLA President-Elect Anne Caputo

In the Cone Ballroom A of the Elliot University Center on the beautiful campus of UNC Greensboro, the Special Libraries Association President-Elect Anne Caputo will visit the North Carolina chapter to talk about this year's SLA Centennial and how NCSLA chapter members can get involved. In addition, Anne will discuss SLA goals with respect to how we should prepare for the future as information professionals.
Directly after Anne's talk, the NCSLA chapter will have a business meeting. All in attendance are welcome to stay for the meeting. After the business meeting there will be a catered lunch in the adjacent room from 12:00 to 1:30pm. If you desire to have lunch, please be sure to register and check the appropriate registration status. UNCG staff may also contact Mary Krautter(mmkrautt@uncg.edu) to register.

NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORKING DINNERS
Happy New Year NC/SLA! Make a resolution to get involved or stay active in your professional organization. Begin now by volunteering to host a neighborhood networking dinner – or breakfast or lunch. This mid-winter tradition is a fun way to gather informally for networking with fellow librarians and students. Select a date, time, and place (it can be a restaurant or your home). Then send the information to this discussion list to invite NC/SLA members in your town. Be sure to include your e-mail address for RSVP’s so you can make reservations or make plans at home. I’d love to hear about the plans in every community so be sure to let me know!
