NOMINATIONS FOR CHAPTER AWARDS
Past President Debbie Balsamo is seeking nominations for deserving Chapter members to receive the following awards at our annual Awards Banquet in April:
· Horizon Award – presented to a Chapter member who shows promise of becoming an outstanding member of the profession

· Meritorious Achievement Award – presented to a Chapter colleague who has made outstanding or notable contributions to the Chapter and to the profession
· Information Management Award – presented to an organization, served by a North Carolina special library, for its outstanding or notable support of library and information science

SARA AULL STUDENT PAPER AWARD
This award recognizes the best student paper of publishable quality relating to special libraries. The award is a $1,000 check and an abstract of the winning paper published on the NCSLA website. Submission, judging, and award are in the fall.

SARC – South Atlantic Regional Conference

February 27th-29th in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Some of the exciting program topics are: SecondLife, wikis, and other social networking in the library; the lost art of interviewing; Mars and Venus for information professionals, and core competencies for information professionals of the 21st century. NCSLA members Rebecca Vargha and Debbie Balsamo will be presenters.

IMPROV CLASS
April 3rd in Greensboro
Improv actor and trainer Greg Hohn will conduct a 3-hour leadership development course. Through active participation, we will learn how to think fast on our feet, influence upward, and improve communication skills. Watch the listserv for details.

AWARDS BANQUET
April 22nd at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown
Following the awards presentations, Guy St. Clair, President of SMR and a past-president of SLA, will speak on our historical roots and the nexus of knowledge services as we approach our 2nd century.

First Quarterly Meeting - NCSLA
