The world of government information covers a vast array of subjects. Join the NC SLA chapter as we delve into three exciting facets of government information. This workshop will feature informative presentations on Patents, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and scientific and technical information. Whether you are new to government information, or just looking to update your knowledge, this workshop is for you! In addition to three great presentations, you will also have the opportunity to network with your colleagues while enjoying a continental breakfast.

The World of Patent Information – Resources for Librarians

Ever need to find patent information but don’t know where to start? Are you on a tight budget but sometimes need to find patents? This session will help you gain insight into the sometimes confusing universe of patent information, focusing on freely available electronic resources.


Geographic Information Systems – Resources and Applications

Finding Government Scientific and Technical Information

The US Government is a prolific publisher of scientific and technical information in many areas. Finding your way to the information you need can be challenging. This session will provide an overview of the resources available for locating all types of government sci tech information, with special attention given to environmental information and locating research that supports regulatory actions.
